So, you know that bit in The Incredibles when Mr Incredible picks up Mirage to crush her and Syndrome says "That sounds a little... dark for you [...] show me."

Yes, that.

I found myself sighing and shuffling around a lot. It was a bit boring, frankly. I realised what my problem is with Dr Who now - it's that I don't care. Because of all the hype, we all know what's coming and when and so I can't get swept away in suspense because, well, there is none.

I'm only going to be watching the Christmas eps because of two returning characters (not mentioned here in case there really is anyone out there who doesn't know who).

Well, I liked it. Didn't watch the last special - bored after 10 minutes, but this one was good. Predictable, but good. Perhaps it's because I no longer read the RT/watch any telly where anyone talks about it.

we liked it & didn't expect the ending - perhaps because we're a bit more isolated from the hype over here, so it was a genuine surprise.

I thought that the bulk of the story was fairly bog standard running around type episode, and the foreshadowing was too excessive ('heavy' just wouldn't be doing it justice), but the ending was impressively, horribly, dark.

Nice.

There was definite post-modern "look, everyone, we're running down corridors and making comments about running down corridors! We're so Meta!" aspect.
