The Hat Shop in York (just down the road from Coppergate) has bowlers from £30, and toppers from about the same price.

Why do I also feel you need to be wearing a set of brass knuckledusters slyly, too? (I may just be projecting, I've always had a strange desire to buy a pair myself, a possible jewellery project if I ever get back on the wagon would be to make some kind of decorative set)...
I'll keep eyes peeled for a tatty bowler, you never know - the charity shops of BradHalifax might just oblige.
