Tonight I held Roo for the last time. We have been riding a roller coaster all summer with Roo's health, having good days where he acts like a puppy, to bad days where he doesn't want to get up or see anyone, or eat anything. He has been having a lot of health problems, and it was really starting to take it's toll on him ( Read more... )

I completely feel your pain as I too experienced something exactly like this. Only thing was I didn't do what you did. I took him to a vet and laid there with him as he passed. What you did is AMAZING. You offered the absolute most wonderful day for him. The end of the journey was going to be the same no matter what, but the path you traveled made all the difference.

It's a very hard thing to do.
I don't know what to say. Thinking about you.

I'm sooo sorry to hear this news. I can totally understand because I've had to do it twice within the past couple of years. Luke was my furry baby, and I let him sleep on the bed that last night, we played frisbee and then I had to bring him to the vet and hold him till he was gone. It was heartbreaking, and very difficult. I still get sad about it and it's been more than two years without him. Dietz seemed a bit more difficult because it just seemed like more of a choice and safety issue with Katie. His health issues had deteriorated enough that it was changing his personality. My poor flakey sickly dog! I can say it does get easier with time. Think on the good times, and be thankful for no more bad times (ie: cleaning up vomit/poop/blood/fur...you name it I think I've wiped it up...)
You gave Roo a great life and loved him and that's a great thing. *hugs* Take care!

So sorry to read your sad news, but I'm glad you had a lovely final day with Roo. I'd like to think that the souls of our beloved pets do meet up with us on some level. Beej xx

Oh no, I'm so sorry. He had so much personality. I know he had a happy life with you.

So much better for him that you were able to do it at home. With our family cat, we wanted that but weren't able to.
