So as an fyi, I spent the last couple of weeks in Australia, taking part in the Solar Eclipse Marathon (a beast of an adventure marathon) and doing some additional sight seeing. Just a flavor of the country, but it was great. The people were all as friendly as I'd been told to expect, the countryside was wild in both views and content (dude, I got ( Read more... )

It was pretty cool. Intense, but definitely a great holiday.

Glad you got to see a Tasmanian Devil. Much of the population has been decimated by a facial cancer that spreads through a virus.

Oh man, weirdness. Featherdale Wildlife Park was the location of so many childhood excursions for us NSW kids of the nineties! Funny to see it on here.

Vegemite "Cheesybite" was developed as an ill-advised attempt to revitalise the Vegemite line and make it seem "healthier". It's almost universally maligned. A similar furore erupted as the one that erupted over cancelling Twinkies (although nobody lost their job at the Vegemite factory).

Summer in Sydney often has those cool days punctuated by absolutely sweltering conditions. Keeps you sane.

Congrats on the marathon! Looks like it was beautiful conditions.

The course was beautiful, but the conditions were intense. (93 degrees F is about 30 degrees more than you'd like it for marathoning). But at least it wasn't raining. I hate to imagine what the limestone on the bump track would have been like if it was wet.

And it's nice to know the Aussies had the same reaction to Cheesybite vegemite as I did. And it was supposed to be "healthier?" LOL. (Yes, I did try some -- toast, butter, thin spread. I'll just say that it's not for me.)
