Role In Canon: Main protagonist
Justification: Of all my muses, I enjoy playing Sora because I feel I just click with him or her. I enjoy watching Sora grow as a character. I am interested to see how Sora would grow in the environment presented in this roleplay, especially an alternate universe Sora who’s just lost her home and has been given a large amount of responsibility in the form of the Keyblade. She has a lot of growing up to do, and fast, and it is an interesting thing to see how a character grows and changes depending on the environment. And due to how much I enjoy playing Sora, I would really like to see how female!Sora would grow and change within the realm of this roleplay where she will not receive the same information or even the same skills. She has a lot of growth potential, and I would enjoy playing it out in your game.
History:
Sora was born in a small and relatively unknown world full of light: Destiny Islands. A few years later, when she was about two, an injured heart sought her out. She allowed it to connect to her own to heal, and it eventually returned to its home. Life continued on as normal for her, the days passing by as she and her best friend Riku continued to grow older.

When she was four, things began to slowly change on the peaceful Islands. Visitors arrived. First a man with brown hair, one Riku called his secret friend, and then a a young, blue haired woman with whom Sora promised to never let Riku stray down a dark path alone. Sora took this promise to heart, and then made sure she and Riku were even more inseparable. They’d even run away from home at night and stare at the sky-where, one night, a familiar voice called to her and she once again took in an injured heart. Life went on without a hitch.

All of that changed about a year later when Kairi arrived. Suddenly the concept of other worlds seemed more real, and the prospect of adventure enticed the two young ones. They became fast friends with the mysterious girl, and at least Sora was grateful to have another female friend. Everything was good for the next few years through school, even if Sora hated wearing the school uniform.

Finally, when they decided they’d had enough of their small world they formed a plan and began to construct a raft. However, it was at this time that it became obvious that Riku was changing. Sora tried to deny it, though the constant competition between the two was becoming tiring. Especially since it always seemed to revolve around Kairi. Races, play fights, everything was geared towards earning the favor of their mutual friend. Nonetheless, the raft was finished and the supplies gathered. However…

One afternoon, a mysterious dream had shaken her. Stained glass pillars, mysterious voices, strange monsters… It had been more like a nightmare in the end. She couldn’t shake the feeling that it was important. It was always hovering there in her mind, like a distant and vague warning of events to come. That, combined with how Riku and even Kairi had been acting, left her feeling uneasy. And to top it all off, there had been a cloaked stranger in the Secret Place talking about connected and eclipsed worlds.

On the night before their departure on the raft, Sora looked out her window and witnessed the beginnings of a storm. Worried for the safety of the raft, she left her room through the window and rowed over to the play island. There, she realized Riku and Kairi were on the play island as well-and that the storm wasn’t what it seemed. Worse still was that the creatures from the strange dream were invading, and her wooden sword did nothing. So she ran as fast as she could, and finally found Riku on the very small island off the larger play one.

She could only watch as he went on about how a door had opened, and how he wasn’t afraid of the dark. They were all going to another world-Sora, Kairi and himself. It scared her, seeing him like this. But when the black began to twist around him, she had to act: she attempted to reach for his hand only to be drawn into the darkness herself.

A bright light pierced the darkness. She found herself back on the island with a giant key in hand. A mysterious voice rang through her head and heart, and she found the strange weapon-a Keyblade-could harm the monsters. She fought her way to the secret place where a strange door had appeared. Opening it, she crawled inside and found Kairi. But before anything could happen, the strange wooden panel vanished and pure darkness overflowed from it. Kairi vanished before Sora could catch her, and the force soon blasted her out of the cave and onto the ruins of her home-where she came face to face with her nightmare.

She fought for her life and succeeded in ending the beast. However, the ruins of her home didn’t last and she was sucked upward towards the glowing ball in the sky. Everything faded to black…
Changes:
Destiny Islands does not seem very large on gender roles. The biggest hint one even sees of this is in the school uniforms. While rivalries are more often seen amongst boys, this could be due to the ratio seen between the sexes on the Islands. In-game, we see four boys and two girls. We get a far larger picture of how boys act toward each other as opposed to the girls. Even then, Kairi is seen as taking charge and handing out the tasks when it comes to the raft. This suggests that it’s not all that odd that females are in charge. Little is known about Destiny Islands. Going by what is seen in-game, it seems the biggest issue on gender lines is clothing. Boys and girls freely play together, alone on a separate island without adult supervision and it seems to have always been this way. Selphie even knows how to fight like the rest of the boys. Kairi’s own wielding of the Keyblade in the second game implies she knows how to, as well, since she seems to be of the same skill level when Sora started wielding his own Keyblade. The only complaint that can be seen as showing gender lines is when Selphie talks about Tidus and Wakka being wrapped up in a game they’re making, which is hardly something exclusive to sexes. Sora and Riku’s in-game rivalry hardly seems to be over Kairi, as they state in the ending of the second game that they wanted to be like the other. Kairi is simply something they had in common that they could be rivals over without admitting their own envy. To this end, Sora has hardly changed. She dislikes the girls' uniforms due to her own active lifestyle which includes fights with wooden swords. Selphie is the only one seen consistently wearing any form of skirt or dress, as even Kairi wore shorts underneath her wrap when the season was right for heading over to the play island. Female!Sora’s own clothing style is a bit more baggy for comfort as opposed to form-fitting. This is also because she is self-conscious of her own boyish frame, and has led to her being frustrated with the fact that she can often be mistaken as a boy.
Personality:
First of all, Sora is a big kid at heart. Her days have consisted of school, and then playing and misadventures with her friends. She is loyal to a fault and refuses to see the obvious changes taking place in Riku. She almost plunges into the darkness after him, even, when he pretty much says to her face that he doesn’t care about their families. To this end, for those she cares most about, she is self-sacrificial. This would have been seen especially in her future when she would stab herself, sacrificing her own heart to awaken Kairi in Hollow Bastion had she not ended up vanishing from her universe.

One thing to note about Sora is that she’s very naïve. She believes that nothing can ever separate her, Riku and Kairi despite the growing tension between her and Riku. However, that faith and optimism is one of her best qualities as it means she never gives up on someone and will seek the good in people regardless of what they’ve done in the past. As of right now, to Sora, there is no way someone can be beyond redemption.

Her relationship with Riku is one of rivalry and jealousy. She sees Riku as better than her, and looks up to him as an example. There’s even a bit of jealousy at how strong and able he is. She fears she’ll never be strong enough to protect the ones she loves if it comes down to it. To this end, their rivalry and jealousy tends to take the form of fighting over Kairi.

Sora as a girl is also fairly self-conscious of her frame. She doesn’t exactly like that she’s been confused for a boy sometimes, but when it happens enough, one grows used to it. It still bothers her, though, and she sometimes secretly wishes she’d grow out a bit more. Then she can avoid correcting people.

Sora tends to be rather tomboyish most of the time, as well. This is due largely to the influence of having mostly male influences in her life. She’s also rather active due to being full of energy. To this end, she definitely prefers more masculine clothing. It’s what makes her comfortable, especially due to being rather self-conscious of her frame and being as active as she is. Pants means she doesn’t have to worry about accidentally flashing someone.

She possesses a strong sense of justice, but isn’t looking to be a hero just yet. Her entire life revolves around her friends and the thrill of adventure. While she will stubbornly stand up for what she believes is right and fair, even to the point of rather severe consequences (detention for the uniform, for example), she’s not had reason to want to be a hero.

Prior to the destruction of the Islands, she showed she was excited about exploring other worlds. However, she was still rather childish about it-taking breaks to play fight with her friends while gathering supplies and even responding to Riku’s antagonizing over things as silly as naming a raft and the reaction when he comments that “it’s just a name” after saying the race wasn’t actually for sharing a paopu with Kairi.

Sora shows to be stubborn, as well, when the cloaked man says that she won’t understand anything because she knows nothing, she is quick to respond that she’s going to learn what’s out there. Even when he calls it a meaningless effort, she glares and then looks to the odd door before deciding to quip back-only to find the man gone.

Above all, though, is that Sora has just lost her home. While her other traits still exist, she is going to be largely lost and confused. She doesn’t know the responsibility she’s been handed, and she’s going to have to grow up fast to deal with it. Life isn’t a game anymore. She is shown to be very good at adapting, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be confused or worried about her friends.

Abilities:
Sora has only just gained her Keyblade. As such, she knows no magic and her only ability is summoning a giant key to use in battle. Said key can also unlock or lock almost anything.
