E&S Notes

This is mostly for myself since my computer isn't working (and thus my private files aren't available), but since I haven't posted anything in a while...

Thoughts had on the way back from Numina:

Per event skills are not exhausted when a defense is called against them, but they cannot be used again during that battle.
To a degree I would prefer that "With [Quality]..." defenses would exhaust them since such defenses should have the same impact on PCs that per-events do on NPCs, but I feel like it wouldn't be worth the extra complexity.

Default shield abilities need to include a parry that isn't usable on Shield Slams or "To Shield" (or is it?).  Examine effectiveness balance *and* coolness balance of weapon+shield and dual-wielding, both with and without Specializations.

Battlemage - caster with non-staff weapon in off-hand.  What about shields?  Should those be addressed through another skill?  Templar tuck?
Sorcerer - elemental spell-striker, a la FF5.
How do spells and pools affect those Specializations?  How do melee abilities come into play?

Scepter - magical focus.  Cannot attack with it, but can you block?

Staffing - low-pressure, come and go like MM.  Some important plot info should be restricted to long-term staff, but even staff who know Big Secrets (tm) can switch to PCing if they wish.  We're all mature here.

Encourage staff to improvise if doing nothing else, but they need to let me know about it sometime afterward.  They also need to be prepared to address everything they do.  No loose ends due to spit-balling.  However, certain topics are off-limits without talking to me first - people need to know secrets before addressing particular topics.

People/PCs/Spirits/"Fated" - delineations, implications, consequences.

Treasure - coins, gems, crystallized (?) magic, crafting, hooks, clues, Grant One Protection.  Grant attacks?  What traits for them?  Other treasure-type treasure?  How to make coinage make more sense with diminished kingdoms?  What about mod hooks/clues with danger of written knowledge (does reticence come into play)?  Would like "Refresh One Endurance" analogue, despite no Endurance (assuming that remains true).
