I googled this, so I won't answer, but I am interested in the place..I grew up not too far from Pottstown. Is this place still in operation? I guess not, judging by the second picture?
The Rosewood Diner is obviously NOT in business! The Fire Department came and burned down the remains of the place after looters stripped everything from the place. You would NOT recognize it in later photos!

My name is Matt Simmons, and as a huge fan of Hall & Oates' "Abandoned Luncheonette" album, through research and networking, I have been able to learn quite a bit about the story behind the cover. My compilation of the story can actually be read in detail on diner expert Larry Cultrera's website, www.dinerhotline.wordpress.com

Despite conducting several interviews and scouring old news articles, I was not able to find any details about exactly how the diner was ultimately demolished. I have seen on wikipedia that it was supposedly burned down by the Ridge Fire Company, but I haven't been able to get further confirmation. Dankitti, how did you come to learn of this? I would really enjoy corresponding with you to see if you could answer some of my yet-to-be-answered questions. Hopefully we can correspond somehow. Thanks!

I grew up in the 70s when Hall & Oates were all over the radio! Our street was the appropriately named Oates Terrace. Anyway, the album cover of Abandoned Luncheonette was included in a book of album cover art, along with such classics as Tales From Topographic Oceans by Yes and The Beatles Sgt. Pepper album, so I had always been fascinated by this album cover. Eventually I started hearing stories about people showing up at the actual location of the luncheonette and the owner comes out and chases them away. I Googled it and I found the story of the diner! I also saw Hall & Oates on The Rachael Ray Show where members of the audience got the Hall & Oates CD box set. That's always fun.

Hi. Matt here again. So, you heard about the Ridge Fire Company through a Google search? I was wondering if you were the person who had originally posted it on wikipedia. I couldn't find anyone who knew Bill (the diner owner) who remembered it being burned down. In an early 1983 newspaper article, it mentions Bill's plans to have the diner "scrapped". I had another person on a Hall & Oates message board tell me that the diner was "hauled away". This is one mystery I would like to solve. I wish I could somehow find out who made that wikipedia entry.
I was, fortunately, able to solve many other mysteries, so I hope you will get a chance to read the article I wrote for diner hotline. I interviewed the diner owners' daughters, a longtime family friend, and even Daryl Hall's mom, so I was able to discover quite a bit, as well as get copies of a lot of great old pictures of the diner when it was still in operation.

The Ridge Fire Company was mentioned by name in the Wikipedia article! I read the article for Diner Hotline, and that is where I got the photos for my LiveJournal post! Anyway, it might be interesting if another band came along and did something called Abandon Pizzeria for Pizza World.
