The wind in Ota is so strong tonight, and my house so oldschool, that the curtains INSIDE my house are blowing in the wind.

So I had to stall for 5 minutes at the end of my 4nensei class at Hagino so I started talking about the flu that was going around and all, asking the kids if they had shots. I told them I hated shots and some of the kids said 'I love shots!!! They feel good!!!' And these kids weren't lying either. What the hell kinda kid likes to get a shot?

So there's this one really cute kid who is a 3rd grader now. I remember him cause he always loves to talk with me and gets me to do a Kamehameha from Dragon Ball. Anyways today he asked if I was really 27, which he said he didn't believe cause my beard was so big. He said it's too early to grow a beard. So a cute little 2nd grader at cleaning time is all asking me about English class coming up 5th period. She's all coughing all over the place and not covering her mouth. She notices I'm a bit squirmish and cheerfully explains, 'I have a cold!' (I know sweetie) So next she keeps coughing from one side to another, then says 'I'll give my cold to you ( Read more... )

So the flu (or influenza as they call it here in j-land) is wrecking havoc on my schools. Last week all 34 of the second graders were sent him cause the flu was pwning up their classroom. So Ota has some really, really cute 1st graders. They were really cute cause at the end of class they'd always want a hug and have me pick them up and spin them around. Sup all. Went to Tokyo for Christmas which was fun. I got in a big fight with Alex. Short version is that I wore a medium coat of his which pissed him off, so he attacked my ice cream tie and favorite red dress shirt with a pair of scissors. Man, this time January last year gas prices were 125yen/gallon. Now gas is up to a whopping 150yen a liter. With the exchange rate at 113 yen per dollar, that means gas here costs about $5.00 a gallon! And to think $3.00 a gallon made front page on cnn.com, I wish gas here cost 3 bucks a gallon.
