November 6, 2011 - SUPER JUNIOR ANNIVERSARY POST
Since I wrote a post for Beast, and even one for Block B, I couldn’t NOT write for this particular fandom. =)) Yes, as Super Junior turns six, I realize that I’ve been a fan (an ELF) for two and a half years, the longest kpop fandom I’ve been in.
Anyways, Super Junior: I spared you about ten seconds of my time, then went on with my life. At first glance, you all looked the same and to be honest, I was sort of annoyed at some parts in Sorry Sorry. That was during the summer before junior year. I thought that that would be my only encounter with you guys, but come on, everyone knows what happens next. :D
As soon as junior year started, a friend (Hi
heavenlysouffle!) asked me to write fanfiction about you. My first reaction was... well I couldn’t even tell you apart, how was I supposed to do it? Luckily, that friend provided me with their traits, their reputations, your quirks so I could make the story believable (If that’s not dedication, then I don’t know what is.). She even gave me links to other fanfictions of Suju she found online.
It was after a month of writing that I watched a Channel V Special showing all your MVs, from Twins until Sorry Sorry. Right after I decided to see if you were really as dorky as my friend said (She told me about the card-kissing game and the Engrish). So looking back, I got into you through fanfiction, music, and then the variety shows (Intimate Note, EHB and Full House are epic, I tell you. EPIC).
Over the next two and a half years, I would write more fic, gain some coordination, overcome my stage fright, see you in concert, all while flailing and getting into more fandoms while I’m at it. I was definitely growing not only as an ELF, but as a fan of Kpop.
So yes, like all my other fandoms, I kind of ignored you at first =)). But when I did get to know you guys, it was like making a new friend, no, a really close friend that I could go to when I was lonely, or who could cheer me up when I was down. You all made me laugh with your antics, being the fail weirdos you are, made me smile with your brotherhood and welcoming new members to the family when it happens. :D You also inspired me to try new things, to be bold and just have faith. Yes, all fifteen of you did that and I don’t regret it :DD.
Super Junior, it’s been six years since you debuted, members are missing and you’ll all be switching off for the army soon. I’m not scared though, since I know you’ll all be fine no matter what happens. So here’s to your sixth year Super Junior, fighting!
