I rarely get excited for movies, but I really want to see this.
The cinematography, the colours, everything is incredible, some of the scenes hardly even look like they're real. The cast is very strong too, there's quite a few notable asian actors; Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Jet Li, and my (of course) favorite, Zhang Ziyi, to name a few.

I've been wanting to see that trailer for a while. Too bad I don't speak Cantonese. I must say it does look amazing. I just hope it doesn't echo Crouching Tiger too much. They definitely have the all star cast to die for. Some of my favorite hong kong action stars. (Tony Leung! Donnie Yen!). This seems like a big change of pace for the director, he has done mostly dramas etc. Please god let a miracle happen and make the distributors not sit on this for a whole year!

from what I've heard, the movie itself is quite a bit different, it's just that the American distributors want to make money off of it, and are promoting it like Crouching Tiger just because it'll get more attention that way. All the real heads know where it's at, though. =]

I was hearing something kind of cool about this, I guess the story is told from multiple perspectives, which explains a lot of the use of colour in the film.

even if you do get the cantonese version on dvd i dont think youd be able to watch it becasue of "regional coding"

aarin's right. you wouldn't be able to watch the dvd if it came from china. there is regional coding that is inscribed on the dvd itself, so the only players that can play asian dvd's are the ones that are able to read em - like the dvd player my parents got from china to watch burned chinese dvd's.

what's cool is that nowadays they're starting to sell multiregional dvd players, because they basically realized that whole "regional coding" this was bs.

You know, I'm losing so many of my Cal friends to UW! Hehe... so many of them are going there for grad school, or to work on their post-docs. Although Seattle is a nice area, so I can't really say anything, hehe :)
