[It's entirely intentional when Zoro approaches Nami on this evening. He had patiently abided his time by curling weights at the far end of the room until there was no one but the two of them remaining in this part of Brooke's. As soon as the last person is out, the weights are set down and the swordsman is on his feet and closing the distance to the other pirate. His expression had been extremely flat while he waited and it still is. An extra cold edge in his features indicates that whatever is on his mind is a serious matter.
Zoro pauses when he's only a few feet away. In a swift motion, his hand is raised into the air with a black cloth hanging from either side of his fist. It's the extra bandana he found with the note from Sanji, if she can recognize it for that.]
Explain this to me.
[His steady voice isn't as demanding as the words ought to sound, but he is nonetheless looking to get straight to the point.]
[She was tired. She was worn out. She was grateful as all hell to have Vivi helping so much with the restaurant. As the last person left, she was closing out a till and looking over the cash, only to pause as Zoro approached.]
[No preamble, just a demand of explanation. He looked serious, though she couldn't give him any answer other then:]
It's a cloth. Black. [She looked back to the money, thumbing through it to count but still talking.] Looks like one of your bandanas.
[Had one of the workers used it as a rag? Gross. She hoped not.]
[Zoro displays patience by waiting for her to finish and allowing her attention to wander to the money. He's quick to try for her attention again, however, firmly speaking as he pulls a second cloth from his pocket. The two are nearly identical, save for being worn in a couple different spots.]
This is my bandana. [The second cloth is lifted, then the first one is given a shake as he returns to referring to it.] It's my bandana, too. [As far as he sees, there's no mistaking this fact. The swordsman has worn that particular accessory with such familiarity for so long that he just knows the second cloth is also his bandana, which is precisely what he was so confused about. There were two. He's purposefully vague, checking her for information before he says much about it at all.]
[She counted, recounted, waiting, and while he waited for her, she stuffed the cash in a bag, zipping it shut. Resting a hip on the counter, he got her attention again, waving one bandana then the other.]
[At first she didn't understand. So what? He had two of them. Why was that so confusing? Then after thinking it over logically, she got the feeling, and yes, it might be true, he only ever had one. Huh--]
Where... did you find the spare? [It didn't take long, especially now that she was actually paying attention to him. Okay, clearly he had a spare. And she had... seen that one before, hadn't she?]
After Nami didn't arrive for work and he was repeatedly failing to get through to her NV, Ace had a sinking feeling that his friend had followed the other members of her crew who left the port. He took the long way home the night she disappeared to comb the city for her but was left frustratingly empty-handed. You are missed, Nami.

[ She has a lot going on right now, but whenever Nami gets back to the flat and, more specifically to her corner of the living area, she will find a battered and very familiar orange hat has been left on her desk. ]
/a month later replynamiwasheretooSeptember 7 2011, 18:32:51 UTC
[She had found it, surprised by seeing it there. Flopping into a chair at her desk she just held it for a bit. Only one person could have got this and put it here. She would have to thank him, silently of course, some how.]
[For now she held the hat close, hiding her face so no one noticed her cry, not that anyone was around. After a b it she moved, finding a hook to screw into the wall, and hanging the hat on it. In her space, safe by the mikan tree, viewable to others if they looked. Just... safe.]
[Zoro, one week later, would find two bottles of his favorite wine tucked away in his room. So far, if it's one thing he might have learned around this shitty city, if Nami thanks him for anything, it tends to be with a single bottle of wine. No words. No note. This time it was two bottles and a small scrap of note that just says 'thank you' and nothing else.]
