I'm afraid that these space weapons won't be enough to prevent any WMD attack from other countries. However, I'm relieved that US can now detect when a country is developing Nuclear Weapons. In fact, krypton 85 is emited when producing weapons-grade plutonium. So US sensors can detect the unusual presence of that gas to identify new possible nuclear plant sites. (source)
