The Basics
Name: Oshidori, 'Oshi'
Age: 26
Describe the meaning or significance in your username: It's a nickname I've had for about 10 years now. In HS, my friends and I would sit in Central Park drinking, and every now and then when we were drunk, we'd pretend we were in a Kung-Fu movie (complete with jumping out of trees and talking as if we were badly dubbed; the highlight of that was the day a tour group of Japanese tourists thought we were hysterical, and filmed us). Since we all had to pick our own names, I decided to go with Oshidori, since it was a story I identified heavily with from a great compilation of Horror stories a friend gave me, largely in terms of the emotions portrayed in that story. After that, it stuck, and now as well as a nickname it's actually my trademark and the name of my small business.
Favorite color: Red!
Do you give orders or simple follow what's given to you? I think I'm a little more covert than either. Although I take the lead when need be, I tend to be more like a puppetmaster; controlling the strings from behind the scenes. So even if I am giving the orders, it never actually appears that I am.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Half empty. My husband refers to me as the 'Eternal Pessimist' ^^;;
Your favourite drink is? Beer. Lots of it (trying to cut down though!!)
Smoking. Yes or no? I'm down to a pack a day! I've been smoking for 12 years, but I plan to quit soon so I can be smoke free for my future family ^_^

Scraping the Surface
What are your interests? In no particular order, crime dramas (total Law&Order fanatic), alternative (goth and punk) fashion, haute couture, japanese lolita (egl, ega, etc.), RPG video games, books on ancient history and theology, regional fairytales, Metal, 80's music, Goth Rock, New Wave, dancing, serial killers (they frighten and fascinate me), horror stories/movies, ancient war, crimeblogging, urban legends
What are your pet peeves? People who refuse to read what I or anyone writes and then proceeds to take them out of context. People who manipulate others.
What are your hobbies? Special talents? Drinking, dancing, karaoke, cosplay, sewing, designing, random things like embroidery and crochet. I'm also a damn good cook!
Your strengths lie in… and why? My 'family', which includes my brother, husband, and my crew known as the 'Stoop-id Drunkz' (the explanation is meant to be satirical). We're all pretty much a bunch of misfits, completely anti-social and angry except with each other, and have more or less suffered from similar trials and tribulations in our lives. We're all street kids, city kids, with tough pasts we fight to keep from consuming our futures. But since we've all found each other (although the family is always growing), we've raised and supported each other through the worst. And when I say worst I mean worst: deaths, prison sentences, break-ups, abuse, drug addiction, etc. If all of us hadn't found each other, I'm afraid to think of where we'd all be now. But right now all of us seem to be on top ^_^
Your weaknesses are… and why? My insecurities and my OCD. I've been told that I've had a thoroughly traumatic childhood and adolescence (according to my shrink, haha!), and although I fought through those hardships then, it seems like the weight of them are suddenly coming back to crush me now. Nothing trips me up more than either the insecurities or the OCD, both a result of my past. (Although, now everything is fine, and getting better, and being dealt with properly!)

Digging a little Deeper
Who do you admire (whether it be fictitious or real life) and why? Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 and Det. Olivia Benson from Law&Order SVU. Both are strong women with seriously messed up pasts. In spite of their fears and reservations, they always press on, either to protect a city, or to protect their child, or even to protect the whole world. Simply because it's the right thing to do.

Also, if I could combine Sarah's body with Olivia's face, I'd be AWESOME! XD

What do you look for in a friend and why? Someone with the same heart but with a different mind. I don't like people to be 'just like me' and I don't like 'yes men'. Of course friends will have things in common, but when they start becoming the Bobbsey Twins, that's just annoying and aggravating to me after a while. I like people with strong personalities, and love friends that I can argue and debate with without any fear or reservations.
If you were in a rock band, which position would you play and why? Vocals, but I always wanted to do the Vocals/ Lead or Rhythm guitar combo. I used to be a very good singer (until all the smoking took it's toll) and I always loved the electric guitar.
How would your ideal room/apartment look like and why? Split level loft and very 'urban victorian'. For example, a dream of mine is to have my living room done up like an old NYC subway station. I also like traditional Victorian rooms too. I really love that era, and I'm an NYC native whose family moved here during the industrial era. So I guess I was always fascinated by the old pictures of NY and my family. There's a strange beauty about the older stylings mixed with the dirt, grime, and metal of the late 19th-early 20th century. As for a split level loft... I don't know why but I like when rooms are sectioned with stairs and still open. Makes it fun somehow.
If you were a piece of jewelry what would you be and why? A ring that looks very girly, like a rose, but jutting out enough to cause damage if I had to hit someone with it. It's kind of how I view myself. I can polish up to look very lady like and elegant, but if need be I can f*ck you up without losing my shine >:]

From the Manga
Who is your favorite character and why? Nana Oosaki. From her crude manner to her 'fits' or panic attacks, I identify very strongly with her outlook on life, friends, and relationships. She's mah GIRL yo! Second would be Yasu. His demeanor and attitude remind me so much of my husband ^_^
Who is your least favorite character and why? Takumi. He reminds me of an evil ex-bf.
Your favorite pairing? And why? Hachi and Nobu. Simply because IT IS MEANT TO BE. Dammit!
Your favorite relationship? And why? Junko and Kyosuke! They just rock!
