Ok here is how it goes. My mom writes a blog and today, seeing as her only daughter was acting as if she was tripping on every drug she could name "cause that creepy looking actor she likes so much won an Emmy", well, she has decided to write about the awesomeness that is MRE in her very intellectual blog lol.

So then she goes and asks....why are ( Read more... )

lost, ben

Well, I can tell you why I like Ben so much. He's the personification of the battle between good and evil in many respects, meaning that the old adage of a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other seems very accurate. On one hand, he's a killer. He'll do whatever's necessary to survive. But, he shows that there is more depth within the human spirit and that no one, not even the villain, can be understood in merely black and white terms. Yes, he's done horrible things. Then again, he kept Alex and Danielle alive against the wishes of his people and their leader. His friendship with Annie, his refusal to hurt Penny when he sees little Charlie - there's so much more depth to him than to many villains. Ben is this incredible mystery in so many ways. And, it's amazing the more backstory we get on him, to see the character fleshed out so such extremes ( ... )

Beautifully put, and not a word too many!
Thank you so much for sharing....it's strange you know. Since I was small I had this thing where I had toughts in my head, opinions etc, but I just didn't know exactly how to put them, until I read someone else's opinion on the matter and suddenly boom! My head starts puttings things in the right place and I can write/say something half decent lol
Thanx again!

Yay for MRE!

In a pop culture society that has the attention span of a fruit fly, Michael Emerson's portrayal of Ben is now, sadly, unique and intelligent. He's played almost theatrical, mixed and complicated, a character allowed to grow organically.

Unlike most television shows and characters at present (and in my opinion), he's had a measurable, beneficial effect on the show with his presence. The writers are given reason to write up to that intelligence level, not down to the reality-tv 'me no think too hard' level. I'm being overexpansive, I realize it's not that bad, but he brings real subtlety to a medium that usually thrives on SPLODY IN YO FACE.

His talents in theatre have been a wealth of benefit here, modulated voice, cautious behavior, a hint of overdone drama where needed. He brings craft back to acting, where many actors are getting by on being themselves with plots attached. This is an actor that can be multiple things, multiple themes, multiple faces - and sometimes all in the same character ( ... )

I'm not so good live. I could telecommute and write your papers for you, but get me behind a podium and its 'ablabalbalbgarrgle *farts nervously*'

The fart thing only happened the once, though.

Now THAT is what I think and wish I could say lol. WOnderful...and I agree 100%.
Interestingly as an actor in training myself I completely get the craft part of his work...it's stunning. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the work this man puts into the part...it's trully fascinating!
