Defend yourself, my lady. I will not be gentle.

I wonder if it would work better with a semicolon. I know I could use a comma if I said "for I will not be gentle" but I wasn't going for that sound.

Rambling over a single line. It's no wonder I hardly complete anything. ^^

Defend yourself, my lady; I will not be gentle.
- the speaker is speaking in a faster tone, and maybe even amused

Defend yourself, my lady - I will not be gentle.
- the speaker pauses for emphasis

Defend yourself, my lady. I will not be gentle.
- I'm thinking this is more of a quiet, serious tone

Oh, so it CAN work with a period. I felt like it was off. Thanks for the analysis. ^.^ Yup, quiet, serious tone, that's exactly what I wanted. <3
