I found myself in this paragraph:

"I don't want to be a distanced, independant, non-trusting person. I think I need to take some time to figure out how to trust. I don't think I've ever really learned how, and my habits have now developed to such a point that I'm realizing that although I can't go back in time, I need to find a way to move forward."

I feel the same. I'm purposefully making myself be vulnerable to people, in an effort to forge relationships and build trust. It's tough work. Habits are hard to break.

Good to hear from you!

skye,

thanks for writing. it's kind of funny that we're going through similar things right now. habits ARE hard to break... but as nearly impossible as they may seem right in the moment, i think that some people go through their entire lives not realizing ways they're being held back... and then i'm thankful for the struggle.

it sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you- enjoy the massage and time with your family. i'll pray for you about the trusting thing if you pray for me... deal? :)

me too! it's always been one of my favorites. :)

by the way, i looked at your journal... you went to gcc? weird coincidence- me too. :) i was only there for a year and a half before i realized i was getting myself into too much debt and ended up leaving... but how bizarre! :) what kinds of stuff did you participate in at school? i went on an ico in 2003, and was on ob and did stonebridge. odds are good we even know some of the same people- it's not THAT big of a school. :)

thanks for commenting- have a great weekend. :)

Wow!! I went to GCC for my first two years of college and LOVED it. But after working in a nursing home for a summer after my freshman year, I came to the conclusion after MUCH prayer that nursing is my calling, so I transferred to nursing school. I'm glad of my decision, but miss my friends at GCC. I was a commuter, but lived less than a mile off campus, so I was still pretty involved in campus life.

I was involved in Intervarsity, especially my first semester, a Bible study through Intervarsity, Orchestra [my second semester], and the unofficial women's rugby team.

I'm going to add you to my friend's list. If you don't want to be on my friend's list, just let me know.

that's really neat. do you still get to see your grove city friends since (i'm assuming anyway) you probably still live there?

i friended you as well. if you live near campus, and ever head over there, enjoy the beautiful blossoms on the trees for me... i'll bet they're starting to come out this time of year. :)
