Today is a sad day. It's been over a week since Jackie Crosby, my nephew's wife, lay on life support in the hospital after suffering a massive stroke and heart attack. Today she passed, peacefully, ending the awful week everyone's been going through. Her husband and children and immediate family have been in shock and disbelief since she collapsed

I've been following this very sad story through Diane's blog - my heart goes out to your nephew and his family.

I too was responsible for my Mum's last breaths and I wrote a poem as well. It's vanished over the years and the only thing I can remember was '...the hands that once held mine are now so still. The heart that once beat strongly is at rest...'. It took me years to get over the emotional impact of being 'the one' to sign the paper even though it was what she wanted and the right thing to do.
