Fandom Stocking Drabbles
Two drabbles I wrote for this year's fandom_stocking:
Title: Queen's Gambit
Characters: River, Jack
Rating: PG

Summary: Drabble. Life is a game.
Fifty-first century chess is more complicated than previous versions of the game. Twenty-third century chess merely used three dimensions. Now game play takes place in six, and two of those are units of time.
River smiles, contemplating her move. She's no better than an amateur who enjoys the game, but she is good, and she's brilliant at picking opponents who are less gifted. The Captain, for example, who really oughtn't have suggested the rules he did.
"Queen to King, fifteen seconds reversed, three beta." She moves the piece as she speaks. "I believe that wins me your trousers."

Characters: Jack, Ianto

Summary: Drabble. Mirror universes open a lot of possibilities.
Ianto long ago accustomed himself to the notion that Jack would, given sufficient time, sleep with every consenting being in the universe. He had not, apparently, considered the full extent of Jack's plans.
"Think about it," Jack says. "The Rift crosses alternate timelines. Mirror universes with vampires, or where humans developed superpowers. Pick a universe, go on the pull."
"Seems a bit close to sex tourism."
"We'll find a universe where they're happy to see us."
"'We?'"
"If you're interested." Jack sounds hopeful.
"Fine, but I pick the first superhero." Ianto will never admit to his crush on Batman.
"Done."
