Title: Home, Take One Characters: Jack/Ianto, Alice, Steven Rating: G Summary: It's their first Christmas back amongst the living. A/N: Follow-up to Rescues
I loved all three, but because I'm a complete sucker for Out of Time fic, I think the last one is my favorite. <3 I loved how well you captured the dynamic between all of them there. And I really, really loved that Jack came back. With pizza. Hee. ♥
I saw the Strays'verse one and I think I just squeaked in excitement at the computer screen for a good five minutes. THAT VERSE IS JUST *FLAIL*
So, I love that you followed up on Ianto's desperate throwaway thought because after all the things he just failed on to Steven, here he is trying to make it right (and winning over Alice) and that whole family is messed-up and broken and gorgeous.
The most amusing thing (for me) about the Mpreg is that I can NEVER imagine the two of them going out and getting a surrogate. Yet here they are, pretending that that is exactly the kind of couple they are. It makes me giggle.
I got all your fics from AO3 for the plane ride, so the "Families of Choice" tag on the last one had me all gooey and emotional before I even read the fic, and then it just got so perfectly fuzzy while still being totally believable. Awww, Team Torchwood. ♥
*wide grin* I was going to do a whole bunch of five minute ficlets to followup on things people had asked about. Then I petered out after two. But I really did want Steven to get his puppy, and Ianto always tries to keep his promises. (Our dog died of cancer in October. In my head, she is now and forever more a fictional puppy with a kid to love her as much as we did.)
I suspect the two of them would spend a lot of time pretending to be the kind of couple they aren't, at least in front of spectators.
Hee! I ought to go back and just tag everything I've written in this fandom as "Families of Choice" because wow. Theme much?
Best plane-reading ever. Fic is the only way to travel.
(And I'm so sorry about your dog. It's really painful to watch a friend go through that, I can't imagine what it must be like. But you're certainly giving a great tribute through immortalization through fiction.)
Well, now I'm picturing Jack and Ianto at Ikea. That is all I got.
Hey, "Families of Choice" is not a bad underlying theme for everything! It certainly works for real life. :)

And the third one - everyone showing up at Ianto's. Oh dear. And Owen being the only one to notice the coat. Nice set up to the "part-time shag" line.
Lovely Christmas gifts!

I love the notion that Owen did know and was incredibly jealous annoyed.
Thanks for reading!
