Good ones. I really like "you know what to do" for next to the form fields, instead of "bring this card to the booth yada yada." I'll see if it flies with my boss, who is sometimes a bit timid about such things.
Perhaps in combo with "you know you want one." (in other comments here)
Yes! because we know about the self image of all software types.
I've always been surprised that I don't here "alpha geeks" more. Hmmm... it does produce 14300 Google hits. One of the first is "O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference 2004 Session. Life Hacks: Tech Secrets of Overprolific Alpha Geeks, by Danny O'Brien." But he knows us and may be a first-level recipient of the meme.
Straightforward: We have $TOY. You could, too. (Alternative: "We have $TOY. Want one?")
(Actually using something like "$TOY"--that is, that specific literal string, or some variant (e.g. "$TECH_TOY") which is also clearly a variable--might not be a bad idea itself.)
$TOY does not make you sexy, taller, smarter, or more capable. But come on, you know you want one anyway.
"Where does he get all of those wonderful toys?" Right here! (If he wins, that is.)
"You know you want one" was one of the few I'd actually come up with.
I like the variable name idea... gotta think on that one. So now you get an anecdote. You decide if this is reward or punishment.
In 2000, I went to the first FlashForward conference. It was jammed because Flash was just hitting, and some creative people were figuring out how to make ActionScript jump through hoops (there was a two-inch editing window, no debugger, etc., but they weren't programmers so they didn't know it shouldn't be so painful). I sat in a seminar and listened to someone spend 35 minutes explaining the concept of a variable to artists. Being bored, I did some calculations and said to myself, "I have know what a variable was for 25 years!!"
1) We has a $thing. You wants a $thing. Click here to gets $thing.
2) I know what you're thinking. "Do I really have a chance to win a $thing?" Well, to tell you the truth, you might and you might not. But being that this is a $thing, the $quality_of_thing in the world, and $quality_2_of_thing, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
3) You probably don't want $thing, 'cause Guido here *really* wants it. You don't want to anger Guido, trust me. Of course, if you want to tempt fate, click here to register to win.
4) GREETINGS FROM ME TO YOU.I KNOW YOU DON'T KNOW ME. BUT PLEASE CAN YOU BE OF ASSITANCES TO ME. CAN YOU CAN HELP ME TO TRANSFER $THING TO YOUR HOUSE IN YOUR COUNTRY.

You've got me beat: in 2000 I'd only known what a variable was for...19 or 20 years or so. :)
