Pandora for internet music

I have been "training" pandora.com to play music I like as my own little "radio station."

I finally realized what this was (late to every party, I know) -- and it has nothing to do with that planet in that movie. I discovered it through dead tree reading (also typical of me). A fascinating article in the NYTimes Magazine on how it "matches" your ( Read more... )

Thanks for the thought.

However... I think Pandora pays licensing fees that get money to the artist. Do you? I've spent 30 years being unwilling to give or receive mixes from others made from commercial recordings. It's like pirating software in my book.

I'm a creator who hopes to benefit from my copyrights.

The leftover Napster songs etc are a very small part of my iTunes, and I go out of my way to avoid putting them on mixes. I don't claim purity, but for the most part, the artist has made money off me ( ... )

The last time I tried Pandora, I liked just about everything they came up with for me (folkie singer/songwriter stuff, mostly), but the pool that it was drawing from was small enough that things repeated too quickly.
