Advice about exercise and leg cramps

I have been having leg cramps for a couple of months now. They are the result of my back feeling much better. I now do more in a day without even thinking about it then I used to do in weeks. I'm stretching, reaching, leaning. It all adds up and then my legs cramp up. I naturally run on the 'not flexible' end of the spectrum. There is ( Read more... )

Have you looked into the nutritional issues that can contribute to or help muscle cramping? Potassium and Vitamin D come directly to mind, but I'm sure there are other players, as well.

I'm sure it's not as simple as "eat a banana" and "drink lots of milk", but you might be able to pick up a little more (extra) something that makes things easier. :)

Other than that, stretching after you've been active and the muscles are warmed up can help.

I drink about a gallon of milk a day. Love the stuff. And I bask outside when it's sunny so I don't think Vit D would be an issue, but maybe Potassium. I've tried some stretching and it's only aggravated the cramping, but I did that when my legs were already cramping, so...

Yeah... stretching is going to do the most good while the muscles are warmed up, before the cramping starts.

Daddio already covered all my suggestions. Vitamins, stretching. Maybe some yoga to get limber you up?
