I’m starting to wonder if I made the right choice coming here. Every place I go I end up either lost or with something I didn’t want. I’ve been here for two weeks and I’m not having fun ( Read more... )

After sending off my brief letter to Buffy I decided to make a visit to the store on Wiltshire where real American food could be purchased.

I slid my hands in the front pockets of my pants as I entered the store. Wandering slowly down the couple of isles as my eyes drifted over the shelves.

"Wow, cheese flavored potato chips of the tangy kind. Great comfort food." I said softly, mostly to myself. I snagged a bag of the chips, then continued wandering around the place. I could use a couple bottles of water and who knew what else I might find on a shelf.

I finally found my way to the counter, placing my things down and adding a snickers bar to my purchases when I saw a box of them on the counter just to my left. I will definitely have to make it a point to shop here at least once a week, I thought as the cashier rang everything up.

Finally!

I nearly jumped for joy in the store when I found some good ol American real food. I grabbed a hand basket and I must have gotten nearly thirty dollars worth of stuff. Anything I saw that I wanted I grabbed, I stopped when I realized that I can actually come back now.

I saw a girl standing in line ahead of me getting cheese flavored chips and I smiled at her when she turned around, she looked like she went to the college with me, she seemed about that age. "Hey." I smiled and shifted the basket in my hand. "Are you from the states as well?" I just hoped I wasn't making a fool out of myself. I had a tendency to do that quite easily since well I don't make or have friends at all.

I was glancing around the store as I waited for the cashier to ring up my purchase, when I noted the girl in line behind me smile. I offered a friendly smile in return, I the heard her ask if I was from the States also.

"Wow!" I could feel myself grinning now. "A fellow American."

"Dawn Summers." I said, introducing myself to the blonde. She looked vaguely familiar, it could be I had seen her on the grounds of the college I was now attending. It be great to have someone around who was actually from the States to associate and possibly hang out with.

I turned back to the counter when I heard the cashier announce the total of my purchase. Extracting the money from the pocket of my pants, I had payment to her, then lifted my little bag of groceries from the counter. I stepped off to the side and waited for the blonde to buy her things. If she was attending the college there would be no harm in walking back there with her.
