Tara burst into the library, and said something about David being in the road, and then she collapsed, I rushed over and touched her face gently, she was pale, very pale, like she'd lost a lot of blood, and then her fingers were cut.. I couldn't piece things together, had they both been hit by a car, had she rushed in to get help while being injured herself... my mind flashed back to the image of her dressed as an amazon from my party, and then the kiss we'd shared, so gentle and yet so much stronger than she knew... I shook my head and barked out orders to the younger slayers who I had been tutoring. Jerica, call an ambulance, that's 999 ok, and Carla and Bryanne go check outside on the road for David, then one of you come back here and tell me what the situation is, do it quickly and do it now

I looked up at Violet. Her voice seemed to be coming from a long way away.

"Violet... I... David got hurt so I..." I felt sick and for a moment black spots danced in front of my eyes. I felt I was hanging by a thread, but I had to hold on long enough to explain. "I did a spell. Not one I've done before..." I coughed. Wetness on my lips. Blood? I wish Willow was here... But it was too late for that, I think. I reached for Violet's hand weakly. "I-I'm sorry. I should have done better..."

The world began to go grey.

"Shhh, don't try to speak Tara, it's ok, we'll sort it out"

She drifted away into unconciousness. The contrast of the blood on her lips and the paleness of her skin was worrying to say the least.

Carla returned and confirmed that David was indeed in the road, although she said he looked much better than Tara did and she couldn't understand how it could be that way since.. I cut her off and asked Jerica how long the amublances said they would be, 5 minutes, they were sending two. Good.

I sat quietly by Tara's side, unsure of everything and holding back tears.
