They'll post a note saything something like "sometime between noon and 5 on this date or this date we might have to turn your water off for a bit"--they give really broad time ranges for ease of the dudes doing the work, and it doesn't much matter for normal types with normal hours. But if (for example) you are teaching until noon and have to be in court at 6, you might risk a quick piercing, teeth, and face cleaning somewhere in there (especially if you have an understanding with your usual maintenance dude).
