I have no experience going for EMT, but have done Wilderness First Aid and CPR/First Aid stuff in the past. Heck... I was even a lifeguard for awhile. They kicked me out. :) Just kidding.
Anyway, I don't know the process or programs, but I know the KNOWLEDGE is very valuable. It allows you to react to medical situations in a proactive way. Generally, if you have the time and wherewithal, I think it would be a fantastic certification to get.
Also, "continuing education" keeps your mind fresh and stimulated. It's never a bad thing to challenge yourself to learn something new.
My real question here is whether or not the time and money would get me a significant amount of knowledge that I don't already have and which I can use outside of the well-stocked environment--I do have a considerable background already in first aid and so forth.
Take your time, lovely. I don't think it's within the bounds of practicality for me to get signed up for the Jan-May class, and since I plan to be out of town for 2 weeks in June I may be waiting until fall to take the class (if I, in fact, take it...)
