The feeling I get

Jul 09, 2005 09:03

You ever get that feeling that whatever you choose to say/write, and how you phrase it, is coming out all wrong to the point that people politely (and in a restrained manner)* disagree with you? As if you're being aggravating/annoying/pointless and it would have been better not to have said/written anything in the first place? And that this is ( Read more... )

I can relate to this post. Though my problem is slightly different. It's very difficult for me to express myself through words so, i will usually not say much regarding my feelings or anything personal. However, i can do much better when i write or type, it's a lot easier for me.
A lot of the time i can't find the right words and come across as mean or bitchy.

It's also easier for me to express myself via the written word. I can edit what I say. I won't stutter, mutter or mumble. I have time to think and phrase it better.

The main problem is expressing how I mean things. Being sarcastic, playful or dead serious can be easily misunderstood without body signals.

The exact opposite has happened to me: I've been annoyed at how people express themselves and I use the polite-restrained manner of speaking to correct them. It's only for their own good. I try not to do it too much, though ... >_>; It's all in the way people understand things, really, not how you convey them.

It's not that I blame other people when they use that restrained manner of writing. It's noone's fault, just a lack of comunication. Unless, of course, someone's refuses to learn and improve no matter what you tell/write them.

Understanding and coveying is two sides of the same coin. If I convey badly, you'll understand badly and vice-versa.

There are times when I disagree with what you're doing, like procrastinating on papers and the like. I don't say anything because I know you're not stupid and you're your own person who can make her own decisions. You know the pros and cons of your actions, you don't need me to treat you like a little kid.

I also hate being patronized. I hope I haven't come off that way towards you. :)

You can be a bit abrasive with people you aren't friends with. You don't tolerate idiots that well either. You're different in a several ways and people fear the unknown.

You're not a bitch who thinks she's better than everyone else. It's just their prejudice views on someone they don't know well and can't figure out.
