Yay! It's our favourite Peter Pan's birthday. Can you believe that he's 32 this year? Seriously... it's weird that the two oldest members look like the two youngest.
Anyway, without further ado, I present TWO scanlations.
As always, DO NOT REUPLOAD and DO NOT HOTLINK IMAGES. This post will remain open, so you can feel free to redirect people to this post if you want them to read the articles. Since this is a special project for a member's birthday, I ask that you refrain from asking to translate the following into different languages. You are, however, totally free to save the images for your own use if you'd like. If you want the images for graphics, just drop a comment or PM me to let me know and it should be totally fine.
1. Anecan 2010.04: Eight questions for Yokoyama You
I still don't know why Maru is in the picture with this article because Maru is literally mentioned ONCE the whole time and it's Yoko calling him a gorilla...
Notes:
- "Don't be concerned with others"
If you remember the beginning of Osaka Obachan Rock, Hina starts off the song by saying, "yoso wa yoso, uchi wa uchi" and it's a very popular adage amongst mothers for the very reason that kids, once they start school, learn about their classmates' economic statuses. Kids who come home to complain that they don't have this toy or they can't afford other luxuries probably hear this phrase a lot because it literally means "they are they, "we are we" but it sounds kind of caveman-ish that way, so I changed it to "don't be concerned with others; we do things our way" since that's the essence of the adage.
- gap
No, not the clothing store. Gap refers to the mismatch between how a person looks/seems on the outside and how s/he really acts. For Yoko, we see him talk a LOT on TV, but that's his role in the group (among being an evil genius). We've heard many times in various interviews from Yoko and members that backstage in the dressing room, Yoko is undeniably the quietest out of all of them.
- carnivore/herbivore
Japanese people tend to use these terms to describe the way a person approaches the opposite (or same, if you're into that) sex. Carnivores (nikushoku, 肉食) are typically go-getters and are willing to chase the person they desire. Herbivores (soushoku, 草食) prefer to wait and don't make moves on a person, regardless of how much they like someone.
- gamer bffs
This isn't a note so much as me declaring my love for Yoko (as if I don't do it enough anyway). As much as people think that Yoko and Hina go well together, Yoko and Subaru understand each other really well and have similar interests/outlooks. They're the most no-nonsense of the group and they aren't afraid to tell another member to chill out or quit being a baby (although Yoko is a gigantic baby some of the time).
2. Kanjani 8 Fan Club Volume 2
This is incredibly special because I don't know if I've seen many proper scans of their FC booklets around. It took me forever to scan just one page because I have a seriously old scanner that kept making awful noises as it tried to scan and then got stuck over and over again. I know this is their 9th year, but I figured I better do this article soon before it gets too weird to write about their 8th anniversary. Besides, Yoko only talks about 8EST in the beginning. The rest is all cute stuff.
Notes:
- the wing stamp at the top
This was not included in the original, but if you keen-eyed Eighters remember, it's from a magazine shoot (Duet? One of the main three at that time) a few years ago where the editors decided to put these drawn wings on Yasu. I turned that image into a brush in PS and used it here. So, hah, Kicyu even in a Yoko post.
Hope you enjoyed the scanlations! I wanted to do longer ones, but I just don't have time as you can see by the lack of Janiben summaries as well. By the way, I'm planning on skipping the Minami Akina and Lovely episodes (I just really don't care about them) and I'm going to start the Taira Airi one since a lot of us adore her. I can't say when I'll get that one out, but it's next on my to-do list. I just wanted to make sure that I got Yoko's stuff out in time for his birthday.
