You're right, actually. I feel like he's trying to be western because he's accomplished enough in Japan that the only thing left for him to do is pull a Nino and get a spot in a western movie. I don't think he's that talented, unfortunately. If you're an Arashi fan like I am, hearing Nino receive praise from Hollywood people who can't even understand Japanese is kind of the icing on the cake and Ryo needs more work but he's on the right path.

Well if Jin can be in a "Hollywood" movie, maybe Ryo's chances aren't so bad.

Yeah, I agree that I don't want Ryo following Jin's descent into mediocrity. I don't think he'd leave K8, though. Those guys would take it so hard and without those 6, who will be friends with him? Hahaha, he's such a loner that I don't think he'd risk getting kicked out of a group for a girl.

Good point, though, about it being scripted. From Hina's weekly notes, I think it's more of a guideline for how the show will run, but there is that possibility.

hahaha i think some people are starting to speak everything they think when they are starting to get comfortable with the opposite talker.
and i believe that was the case for ryo, he felt comfortable with emiko-san, so he thought he can do as he like, plus there was another member who can back him up.

If only you were right.

Unfortunately, Ryo has trouble feeling comfortable with a lot of people and while you might have interpreted it that way, I highly doubt that's the case. The thing is, there's a huge gap in both their ages and how long they've been in the entertainment industry. If you don't understand Japanese, I guess it's harder to pick up in the way he speaks, but the rest of them all use polite language and Ryo's outbursts are all in casual language which is rude because he's a kouhai. Also, they haven't worked together that much for him to feel comfortable with her.

I'm not sure where you think other members are backing him up because they all scolded him each time he was rude to her. The beauty of the group is that they back each other up when it's right and they scold those who are being out of line when it's necessary.

It could have just been that he was nervous or tired, but that's still no excuse for his poor behaviour on such an important episode.

Thanks a lot!! :) My favorite part of this talk segment was their e-mails. Ryo's made me laugh a lot and it's crazy how Ohkura is such a brat but still he can get away with everything XD

I can't quite remember how Ryo behaved during this episode since it's been a while, but I agree with hadashi_no_eden's comment above and with your reply. I know Ryo has another movie coming out soon but it feels like it's been a while since he last had a real "challenge", a stimulating part on a drama or something. That's not an excuse for him to forget about proper work etiquette though and start acting however he wants, specially when the guest is someone older who everyone should respect. :/

Woo, hisashiburi! Haha, the emails were so much fun. Ohkura's brattiness is probably forgivable because he laughs like crazy after he says or does anything.

Yeah, I think Ryo has unfortunately become typecast. He keeps getting chosen for roles where he's some really gentle, loving (family) guy and unless he puts his foot down and decides to go in a different direction with his acting, he'll forever be the same role in dramas and movies. It's weird, though! Was I talking to you about it, but I remember saying that he doesn't even FEEL like he could be a dad yet. But yeah, back to his work etiquette, his attitude just disappointed me because he's normally the type to choose his words with people important.

Yes it's been a while, work has been eating me alive :( Ohkura is adorable, I've been watching his movie promos and I can't deal with how big of a mouth he has whenever he bursts out laughing. XD

I agree with that. In my opinion his last interesting character was in Last Friends, and that was AGES ago! I loved Zenkai Girl, but he played the part of the loving dad (even though it wasn't his kid), so yeah. I wonder if he's just not getting invited for interesting stuff anymore, which would be sad. :( I am hoping for more acting work in the future, because he has potential! And well, he almost never behaves like he did this time, which is good.
