So, while I was wasting time on Twitter this morning, in an attempt to get the wheels greased and do something worth-while, writing wise, I caught this tweet from John Scalzi. And it got me thinking of a whole generation of children who have no clue how all the little things in a modern life make a difference. They never have to stay off the phone ( Read more... )

I support this decision. It frightens me how instant everything is now... and the idea that there will be a generation that thinks that's just the way things are and have always been frightens me even more. :/

Sorry...I don't get being frightened about this, or even really caring. There will be something invented in your kid's time that will make life easier for another generation. Progress has been being made for a very long time. Once there were no computers...before that, no TVs, before that, no radios. We were born when we were born, and there's not much that can be done about that. Instead of worrying about what missing out on minor hardships will do to kids, it's seems more important in my mind what the ease of access to information will do to effect the world in general. Will it cause wars, or stop them? Will it turn us all into simpering fools, or broaden our horizons further than anyone could imagine ( ... )
