NaNoWriMo 2010: Day Fifteen

It's halftime.

Today's goal is 25,000 words, to put us halfway through the month and halfway to the final 50,000-word goal. That milestone is a special joy, and it comes with special challenges

I'm at 27,500. Gonna try and keep my lead for the rest of the month!

I passed 36,000 yesterday. I'm hoping to hit 38,000 by the end of tonight's writing session, which should put me in good stead to reach 40,000 tomorrow. Then just another 10,000 left to go, baby! YEAH!!!

Um, not gloating, or anything. Just really psyched. 'Cos, y'know, it's my first NaNo, and I honestly had no idea going into it whether I'd be able to come anywhere near that kind of output. It's truly been an eye-opening experience, and I'm really glad I decided to go for it. And it doesn't hurt that the story is, IMHO, turning out pretty well, either.

I'm at 21,147 on the dot at the moment. That's a bit behind, I realize, but that's *also* a several thousand words ahead of where I was at this time the year I actually finished, so that means I'm ahead, right? ;)

Where "a several" is clearly grammatically correct there. I'm a writer, trust me. :P

I limped over the 30k mark today, so now I'm in the dread third quarter, where the going gets tough and the tough get bored. Every single stinking time this happens, and I still don't know how to stop putting myself in this position.
