It's great to hear that I got it so right; I was (still am, to be honest) a little concerned that the final line only makes sense if you already know what's going on. Very, very pleased to be responsible for the wonderful finish to your day.
Although I'm afraid I don't recognise the reference.
As for 'she' - uh, that was prejudice. I tend to think of fanfic writers as female unless they say otherwise. And sometimes, if I don't come across the post/page where they say so, even if they do.
I need to develop the habit of using gender-neutral pronouns.
Thank you for the offer, but I've already got... I think it's close to fifty... unfinished Death Note stories to work on, so I'm not likely to be taking it up for a while.

In the original manga/anime, Light had noble intentions paved with villainous actions, which could make him cringe-worthy or anger-inducing. In the end of both, Light is no longer a danger and instead someone to be pitied. What I like about this is, while obviously keeping in character, you made Light a more sensitive person, conscious of his own life and trying to find its meaning in a crime-filled world. You managed to turn him from a pitiable to a likable character, which at the same time makes me feel sorry for him even more. Well done!
