Camp NaNoWriMo

Is anyone here doing July's Camp NaNoWriMo? I signed up for it and have already found a cabin.

My apologies if this is not allowed to be discussed here. I'm not sure of this is strictly just for November or if other NaNo's can be discussed here as well.

At first I wanted to do this Historical Fiction story about life on The Silk Road which is inspired from a museum exhibit I've seen twice. The first time I fell in love with the concept. The second time I went I was prepared with pencil and paper and I took tons of notes and I took my time in the exhibit. The jist of the story is a Greek Merchant's daughter talks her father into taking her with him on his journey to Xi'an China and they travel back along the Silk Road after staying with friends in Xi'an for almost a year. I was going to make it journal entries for the most part from her point of view, but I really need to do more outlining and research before I can start this properly.

I've decided to continue the Battlestar Galactica (1978) fanfic I originally re-worked last November. It'll be easier research and I can make a lot of it up on the fly if need be as I know the genera very well.

That sounds like a fun project!

The first of my two pieces is a novel (started in November, some more work done in April) where the Hellenic pantheon are a modern, mostly wealthy family. Very soap opera.

The second project I'm working on is a multi-chapter fanfic. I love the story but am struggling with the phrasing on both, also finding time and spoons to write.

Please forgive me but my brain is a little fuzzy. I should know the term Hellenistic, but for the life of me I'm blanking on it. It seems no amount of caffeine can get my brain to working on the weekends. *sigh*

I was added to a cabin, too. They're a lot chattier than my previous cabin back in April, and they actually know which Battlestar Galactica (1978) version I'm doing. too. This promises to be fun.

I'm doing it!! I haven't decided on a word count goal yet. Every NaNo or Camp NaNo I've done since 2010 has crashed and burned, so fingers crossed for this year ...

Glad to hear you're going to be doing some writing with a friend. I'd like to find someone local that I can talk to about my fanfic, but a lot of people are into the new Battlestar Galactica and not the original.
