What are you favorite OP and EDs? and why?
Don't go past top 5, and say a few words why? :3
1. TANK (Cowboy Bebop)
Typography, synch, direction, attitude, style, just a hint of action and of course the MUSIC. I honestly think that the art direction was innovative for Anime of the time, and if any non-otaku or just casual viewer of anime saw this sequence, they'd likely want more. It's agreat "hooking" sequence. Bonus, the music was universal.
2. RISE (Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd Gig) edit FIXD LINK to actual OP:/

While it starts slow, the art direction is still interesting with tension and mood, and all the characters get their badass exposition shots.. then it explodes into action and expo shots with insane amount of detail for only being a slit second on screen. The song is incredibly empowering as well. Like TANK, casual viewers of Anime would have to agree it's got great direction and shots, delicious urban palette, and glimpses of "unreal"
3. RUMBA COLOR (Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei op3)
SURPRISE PUNCH TO THE BALLS. This is third though I think it's brilliant, because you need to know the progression of Zetsubou Sensei openings and it's animation style (and all experimentation with) to really appreaciate it, especially the fact that they incorporated iconic bits of previous openings and KICKED IT UP A NOTCH. When this exploded in full color-- holy geez, I had to get closer to the screen. The chaotic nature of this at first seems to no really fit with the sterotypes in the series, but it's nothing to despair about: the series is all about taking what you'd consider unavoidable, routine and sometimes insane aspects of societal life, and adds twists and turns that you could only do in fiction, in a way you can only do with anime. Its parody of life. Its parody of the industry. Its parody of fandom. Its parody of itself. It's pure anime, and this OP seems to encompass bits of all of that. You really need to watch it over 9000 times to see every detail. The amount. WOW.
4. RUMBA RAP (Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei op3)
while the next surprise OP was a little less impactive (after above) the rap is so fucking sweet.
5. TRUST YOU (Gundam 00 Second Season)

This is just pure fangirl love, but you need to have an attachment to the character's and the gundams to really appreciate it. Photography stills and then snaps of animation that continues the stills from the ED before it (which I've never seen done before, it was imnenssely impactive) The use of clothes, the song, the end. Just.. THE END. I cried when I first watched this.
