CRAZY ASS COLORS, SLOGANS, AND TEXT!! not sure if it's better to pull this off at a con or a location shoot. the souvenirs would be the actual posters or postcards XD;

Some of the best expression of dreams and fears of an entire country were memorialized in print propaganda posters I think the overwhelming abuse of moving type and flashy digital media and viral video has diluted some of that for today..

I just dig how complex those old posters can be X3

Oh man I love the idea, especially when lately one of my dream cosplays is to do Bolshevik era Russia uniform so I would approve of Bolsheviks vs White reaction. LOL because I am a Civil War Soviet Union military nerd. I CAN HELP WITH REFERENCES XD I have the Osprey Men at Arms for the Russian Civil War (red army). They also have one for the White armies.

Hmm, the Cultural Revolution in China happened in the mid 60's so if you want something between 1914 and 1950 it would be actually the Chinese Revolution (the ousting of the Guomindang and Chinese Communist party victory).

The only revolutionary opportunties in Eastern Europe was Germany 1919 with the Spartacus Uprising and then again in 1923. I would need to look into my history folders for art/ posters of the time.

Spanish Revolution is a pretty good idea too.

oh that's right, cultural rev was after Commie China kicked KMT/Taiwan was born. D'OH, I totally so yeah That would be Chinese Rev? I think he cultural rev posters were what I was thinking of though, lots of Red and Gold and fields and smiles etc ^^;

Spanish Rev political art is amazing, UCSD had an exhibit a few years ago full of some of the posters. Those kind of images rly stay XD

I really want to coordinate something, idk if I can do this for Fanime but I can try....?

Yes, the whole red, gold and stylized happiness is from the Cultural Revolution. I still think is a valid thing to do, they are very recognizable and iconic.

it's because of this shoot with Lionel/Imari/Die some of those photos I keep thinking "man, that is like 3 steps way from a propaganda poster"

and when you think political poster, it's immediately Soviet or Chinese that pops to my head first XD;; indeed so iconic~

after ref hunting, I'm going to see some past photos in fanime galleries for good locations... X3 definately keep you in the loop though!
