I totally get that and you are not alone :-))) My hubby's entire business has changed with the advent of text and email. He's very good at reading people's voices and you can fine tune a sales call based on the other person's mood, ect. You can also pitch other things you have for sale that they may not know they need or think you have until you mention them. He used to talk on a headset and make sales while packing product to ship. Now he's having to sit at his desk to answer emails (and he's TERRIBLE with a keyboard) or try to text and there's no way to read your prospect or have your hands free to pack. He actually had to hire someone to pack for him. He'll call people he's known 25-30 years and they insist on letting it go to voicemail and then sending him questions or a PO by email (instead of fax) or texting entire conversations back and forth which takes much longer than simply talking on the phone to get the order. And typing in 'hey, do you need xxxcghbb double aa cards, because I've got 200 of them' takes a lot longer to

It's a strange little quirk that I hate about myself but I suppose part of it is due to simply not knowing what to expect before you dial. I'm hoping it's a habit I can train myself out of, though.

Oh, I so get this.

I did 3 hours of calling to get out the vote a couple of years ago, and spent almost all of it chanting in my head: don't answer don't answer please don't answer. Then I went home and took a 4 hour nap, then if I remember right, I went to bed and slept just fine.
