I had the same thing happen to me a while back. Man, was it ever messy. Sticky, rancid coconut juice everywhere.

My coconut was not scored. When I got it, it had already spent a hot afternoon as a table centerpiece at a baby shower. Then, it sat in the sun in my kitchen for about a week. I wonder what kind of chemical reactions were occurring to cause this.

Yikes!

I've never heard of such a thing. And coconets grow in hot places, so why would they pop up north? I've also never heard of the scoring... maybe that causes the lack of structural integrity.

Thank god you weren't injured... I don't know if that's covered under Blue Cross.
