You know, I'm not even sure how long people go for before they start showing symptoms. I think yes, it can be years. Yea, should still get tested.

When people contract HIV, they usually get flu-like symptoms (flu, not cold. flu-like means symptoms that affect the entire body, i.e., pains, aches, fatigue). Then, they're usually fine until they develop AIDS, then they start getting opportunitistic infections, which is what Girl B is referring to.

I agree that "sex education" has more to do with "reproductive health and STDs". Certainly, current sex education should be replaced with "better sex education"... :)

Oh, btw,
http://www.health24.com/medical/Condition_centres/777-792-814-1756,22216.asp

"HIV/Aids is often called the “silent epidemic” due to its very long incubation period - meaning that a person can be infected for many years without showing any symptoms. An HIV positive person may not even know that he or she is infected and unknowingly also infect other people through unprotected sexual intercourse."

That's scary... those infected ppl will be spreading the AIDS virus during those years of not knowing that they have AIDS.

gheez! that is really naive!

I think it's best to be educated about sex before it's too late to be cured..and not knowing what happened.
