a few weeks ago i would secretly laugh at mothers who share their experiences on toddlers tantrums, thinking, it'll never happen to me. Chiara has her fair share of moods but was never unmanageable. and she will be this way till the end of times. hah! wrong... these past few nights, a screaming monster, (maybe banshee?) takes over her body

Hey I think it's called... *drum rolls*...THE TERRIBLE TWOS!!!
Okie end of drama but I think it's part and parcel of growing up. Maybe it's how she expresses her frustration. And I'm sure she'll grow out of it soon. Like you I avoid spanking as discipline but maybe you can try taking away some of her priviledges like no TV for today, or no sweets or deserts for today that kind of thing. Have to make sure she knows that it's wrong to do whatever misbehaviour that she did and that there're consequences to that.

Hmm . . . Naia does not get TV or sweets right now and there's really nothing else she gets from us so we do not have any priviledges to take away! Aiyah! She wouldn't care anyway, she is so unattached to things. Although once, another kid tried to take a toy away from her and she swatted him. Noah was like, "Good girl!" *shaking head* When did Ty start to understand priviledges being taken away?

Hmmm that's a good question. Actually what I do now is to show him an angry mommy's face and scold him in a strict manner. He may not understand what I said but my mannerism says it all. Then I'll refuse to carry or hug him and I'll let him cry abit till my heart soften and then I'll carry him. Think that's enough for now. No TV or sweets will come in few years time I guess...

Chiara will just look really shock and keep staring at the snatcher, and when she realize she's not getting her stuff back (fan ying chi dun), she'll start to make noise... now will be a good time to introduce priviledges, so u can take them away later... hwahahahahaha. i'm kidding. good job with no sweets and tv. i kept that up for a while, but Chiara is with my sister's kids a lot, and now she's knows all kind of candies and can choose her own vcds. wat to do...

HBO Movie Casting

There should be a HBO movie about your family, with Napa and you as lead neurotic characters (only cus I am more familiar with both of you and not so with W isa and your mom and dad). Chiara will be the next "IT" girl with her banshee repertoire. I would SO watch it!
