Drizzle
Myungsoo/Lizzy. Fluff.
Lizzy remembered her mother once told her if the sun was scorching, it would rain later.
it was scorching hot lizzy almost cancelled her plans with myungsoo.
in her opinion anyway.
but she couldn't. because it was her turn to do the grocery and she had asked myungsoo to come along. she wasn't quite sure why she did. but it was set. and myungsoo's text just came in, saying he'd wait for her at the camera shop across her favorite pet shop.
lizzy pushed open the door to the shop, a tiny bell tinkled above her. what an adorable shop. her eyes quickly caught sight of a figure, clad in a black coat lizzy knew too well. the guy was looking at a few tripods on display behind the counter, and clearly didn't hear lizzy approaching judging by the startled look he gave when lizzy pressed her index finger onto his back.
"if you want a new tripod for your birthday, i could give it to you," lizzy smiled slightly, resting her elbow on the glass counter.
myungsoo returned the smile, bigger. "you know i only want you."
"aww," she tilted her head. "ew."
myungsoo laughed (crinkled eyes and dimples and it was the most endearing thing she had ever seen) and intertwined his fingers with hers, swaying them back and forth a little. "my tripod's fine. i'm waiting for the verdict on my camera."
his brother had been a bit careless about his camera. knocked it over the table. the tripod was a different story, though. this time, it was his little cousins with their rolling balls. he said he could hear the rattle from downstairs.
lizzy nodded and lazily glanced through the glass door of the shop and saw someone she thought she knew.
"is that-" lizzy tugged at myungsoo's coat to get his attention. "-hoya?"
myungsoo turned to look at the direction lizzy probably was looking at the moment and, true that, saw howon looking at the sign of the camera shop. one minute he looked like he was reading the sign, next he gasped in what looked like to be in recognition, before walking straight, disappearing from their sights.
"what is he doing?" myungsoo raised an eyebrow.
lizzy shrugged her shoulder because how should i know? "nana should be nearby."
just as she finished, an old man walked in from the backdoor, myungsoo's camera in hand. "i can't find anything wrong with it, boy. your camera's fine."
myungsoo released a sigh of relief and took his camera back, analyzing the outer display before putting it inside his bag. "how much?"
"no need. there's nothing wrong with it." the man gave him a kind smile under his white mustache.
lizzy zipped the bag completely (he had left an inch open and she couldn't have that) and bowed along with myungsoo before leaving the small shop.
"what do you want to do again?" myungsoo asked, adjusting the strap on his shoulder. lizzy let go of his hand and changed places, wanting to walk on the occasional bumps separating the pedestrian path from the main road. "it's dangerous, lizzy." myungsoo quickly entwined their fingers once again, helping her steady. it wasn't the balance he was worrying, though.
"grocery shopping. it's my turn again." she hopped onto the next one. "i think i need to buy more snacks this-yah!"
this time, myungsoo let go of her hand and held her by the waist, lifting her off the bump. "it's dangerous, park sooyoung." he walked a step ahead to let her placed herself on his left side, away from the busy traffic. she pouted, but complied nonetheless.
it was starting to get cold.
.
grocery shopping with myungsoo mostly consisted of throwing in a dozen of different snacks into the cart, fighting over which color nana would like for her toothbrush ("no, believe me, myungsoo-i know her well and she would like the red one." "why are you so sure? for all we know she could be into blue this month."), a package of s'mores pop tarts for myungsoo, a new air freshener also for myungsoo and two minutes to decide which milk would taste better with her cereal this month.
when they went to the exit, people were piling up. turned out it had rained while they were in there. lizzy remembered her mother once told her if the sun was scorching, it would rain later. well, would you look at that.
so they decided to hang out at the food court, which, fortunately, not many people even thought of going.
"want to come to dinner at my house next friday? mom has been asking about you." myungsoo munched on his rice cake, watching as lizzy put down her fork. she had gone to his family's dinner at their place last month, meeting his parents for the first time-they were thrilled, to say the least-and her mother had been asking for him to invite her again, every time she got the chance.
"really? wow, i'm flattered." she tilted her head, recalling her schedule next friday. there was a club meeting she had to attend, but, nope, she'd be free for dinner. "alright."
myungsoo smiled. "i'll pick you up at 7, then." now her mother would stop bugging him.
lizzy nodded and bit her last rice cake, before telling myungsoo about one of her professors who cut her hair and ended up looking like dora the explorer.
by the time she had finished ranting about her assignments ("why don't you stop complaining and actually start on one." "why can't you be supportive of me, myungsoo?"), the rain had stopped. at least that was what they saw through the windows of the food court. probably still drizzling.
"your s'mores. your bread. your air freshener," lizzy sorted through one of the bags and took out myungsoo's stuff, putting them into another plastic bag. "your... shoe polish?"
"my dad's," myungsoo snatched the polish from her hand, putting it into his plastic bag. he peered into it and looked up. "my potatoes?"
lizzy reached for a bag of the said vegetable. "you don't strike me as the type to buy potatoes, though," she chuckled as she checked the label. "wait, this is mine." she dug through her bag and pulled out another bag of potatoes. "this one's yours."
"what, i can't buy potatoes? now that's funny stuff, liz."
she simply laughed and re-arranged the position of her cereal box.
.
"it's still drizzling," myungsoo looked up at the gray clouds. the pedestrian path was once again busy with people not being bothered by a small drizzle. he fixed the strap of his camera bag on his shoulder and turned to look at lizzy, who had taken out an umbrella out of her bag. why she didn't take it out earlier, he understood. the umbrella was small, and it wouldn't stand a chance against the heavy rain.
"the bus stop is near, though."
myungsoo took the umbrella and held it above their heads, "because i'm taller than you."
her lips pulled up to a smile and they both stepped out into the street.
