Back from Spain! Sun and heat in the summer, imagine. I meant to post before I left but was unable to and then our hotel didn't have Wi-Fi. Will try to answer all comments and read through my friends' list tomorrow! :)

Sun and heat in the summer, imagine.

I had my heat and sun in Florida. I'm now very glad to be back in a country where the sun is accompanied by a cool breeze, and I can walk for 5 minutes outside without needing a shower.

Where in Spain where you? Will there be photos?

I was in Andalusia. Malaga, Granada and Cordoba to be specific :) It was hard to get the feeling that we were actually in Spain, because everything was so Arabic-inspired. It felt as if we had taken a step into One Thousand and One Nights. From the Alhambra and other buildings we visited, to the hotel and restaurants we ate, and these absolutely incredibly things we discovered called Hammams, a sort of indoor swimming pool with pools with hot, cold and lukewarm water, dimmed lights and mint tea, it felt like a sojourn into the sort of books I read in my misspent youth ( ... )

Sounds like an awesome trip! :) I've visited Spain, too - way too many years ago but I still remember how beautiful places like Alhambra were. Hammams are great, aren't they? (I didn't go to any in Spain, but I've been to a couple in Greece.) Did you visit Seville, too? I think it's close to Granada, IIRC? Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time, and welcome back! I'd love to see pictures if you decide to post any. :)

At first we were so starved for sun that we didn't notice.

Heh, yeah, I imagine it mustn't be too bad at first. But after a while that kind of summer heat gets unbearable. Be glad you don't experience it for 3-4 months straight every summer. ;)

How about we trade you one month of heat wave for one month of rain? *g* The bitter thing is that our summers used to be so beautiful! Long, warm evenings, nights that were never completely dark, dewy meadows in the morning, hot lazy days in the garden, crickets chirping, enough to last you inspiration for purple prose for a century :) Then, suddenly, five years ago we started raining away. It's like Dementors decided to make us their breeding ground here!

It was an awesome trip. I think it may have been the best vacation I have ever had. It was not a perfect trip, but it was a wonderful trip! No, we did not visit Seville, as the BFF had been there before. It can't have been much further from Granada than Cordoba, but that was almost three hours so we felt that we had to take that into consideration as well. Besides, by this time we had discovered the Hammam and were no longer so desperate for anything to do :) I still hope to see Seville one day. Where you there ( ... )
