It was totally dull in fact:) I ended up skipping the boring and not very kinky sex bits and reading the dysfunctional relationship bits. Didn't bother with the next two volumes.
I did exactly the same thing! The sex was the most boring part of the book. Otherwise it was entertaining enough, well-written enough to keep my interest without actually being, you know, good :)
I will probably read the next two, the series is excellent light reading. But it caught me so by surprise that a series that is infamous for its serious kink struck me as so vanilla. 80s Bodice Rippers and many years in fandom has obviously left me immune :)
Hehe, no, I at least was surprised at how commonplace and vanilla it all was. Of course, I might be jaded. But still, compared to the average 80s bodice ripper it really came off as quite innocent. And the funny thing is that it gets progressively less kinky as the series go on. (I have read about a fourth of book two).
I can't specifically remember that phrase, but it wouldn't surprise me, and isn't that the worst thing one could say about a book ever? *g* What I remember is all the references to Bella Swan's Anastasia Steele's inner goddess. *shudders*
But all in all, it's not a bad little series of books. They are entertaining enough, I would recommend them for a light read :) But groundbreakingly kinky they are not. And the cringeworthy bad parts are . . . cringeworthy bad. *g*

Is it true that she uses the phrase 'mother hamster' to describe Grey?
And I was wondering if someone well read in HP fandom (darkish side) will find anything worth paying for in Grey. As it turns out--no :)
