Gratuitious Poetry Post - Well, almost Gratuitous

LONDON (AP) - Six beavers from Bavaria were released in western England on Thursday in a second attempt to restore a species that has been extinct in the country since the 12th century.

Woah.

Gentle or not, don't Bavarian beavers still need to eat?

There's plenty of bark and aquatic plants in the Cotswolds, isn't there? Or do Bavarian beavers only eat wurst and beer?

The article says that no one should worry about the beavers chewing things and building dams because they're gentle non-Canadian beavers.

Canadian beavers aren't gentle?

I thought he was referring to the damage caused by dam-building. That's assuming you do call rerouting rivers, etc., damage; I call it how a lot of US landscape was shaped, but it does tend to be incompatible with human plans. And humans tend to be incompatible with beaver plans.

Beavers do eat the bark when they fell trees, but they mostly eat duckweed and stuff like that. At least the canadensis do.

The Montreal Biodome is one of my favorite places, and the beaver dam is one of my favorite exhibits. You can see into their den . . . it's so cute.

I don't think beavers actually eat bark.

Is the title intentional? */nitpick*

Nope. I was planning to make another post altogether. Then I got distracted by beavers.

From the description they sound like the European answer to the tree sloth. Not the worst way to live, but being put into a new environment would be a pretty rough experience.
