Painter. [Background] Born the Third Prince of Britannia, Clovis lived a life of luxury and privilege. His childhood was spent in close company with his siblings, and failing miserably in chess against Lelouch. He also enjoyed the company of his other brothers and sisters: Schneizel, Cornelia, and Euphiemia.
The idyllic days of his youth came to an end with the brutal murder of Marianne, Lelouch's and Nunally's mother. The two were exported away to the island of Japan, where it was believed that they were killed during the fold. The death of his siblings was one of the causes for Clovis' growing interest in the position of Governor.
Since his induction into the office, Clovis has spent time researching into Geass, namely Code R. He even captured C.C., at the time a facet of his father's plan for the Sword of Akasha. Experiments were made on her, but how fruitful they were remained a private secret known only to the associates of the Code-R project.
Clovis' plan collapsed onto itself when the capsule holding C.C. was captured by terrorists who mistakened it for a poison bomb. The prince paniced, sending all of his guard to retrieve the capsule. He feared he would be disowned if this mishap is leaked out, and out of this fear he ordered that Shinjuko Ghetto be destroyed to hide any evidence.
[Personality] To most people outside of his family, Clovis appears to be a spoiled, selfish prince. Some of this is true: Clovis is very narcissistic, to perhaps make up for his true timid nature and lack of skill in politics and strategy. He cares little for his subjects and would just as easily destroy them if they compromised his plans.
But to those that know him well, he shows a more gentle, loving personality. Before Lelouch and Nunnally were sent away as political hostages to Japan, he had a relatively good relationship with them. He would often go over to Lelouch's house to play chess even when he would lose every game against his little half-brother (37 losses, 1 stalemate). Some of his hatred for the Japanese stems from his belief that they did nothing to prevent the supposed deaths of his younger siblings.
Clovis' more cruel and calculating side is mostly derived from his years in politics. Before becoming Governor, he had no interest, even disliked, the idea of holding office and was a more laid-back, calm individual. It isn't revealed how far he went into the Code-R project when he became involved, and how he viewed his father's plans, but he obviously knew the treachery of his own actions given that he would kill civilians to hide the evidence.
Clovis' impulsive behavior is one of his major flaws. He acts without thinking of the consequences of his actions, hastily ordering major decisions with little planning. He is a racist, but most of the Britannian society was at that time as well. He's also a bit of a coward, despite his brave front, and some of his decisions are based on his selfish desire for his own personal safety.
As for appearances, Clovis is very flamboyant. He surrounds himself in extravagance, from his own villa to his clothing. He's very thematic, usually relying on over the top dramatics or emotion in his speeches rather than logic. He is well-mannered, if somewhat snobbish to those of lower status than himself. Also, Clovis is quite the socialite, and artist. He made up for his lack of tactical knowledge with profound talent in art and designing.
All in all, Clovis is a somewhat good person who, under the influence of ambition and fear, made bad choices that compromised his own morality.
[Specialties/Abilities] Can paint really good. :D
And design skimpy bathing suits. That's always a plus.
[Affection] Depends on how well your character knows Clovis, such as a family friend. If they are close to him, hugs are alright but note that he will be really awkward about it. If he doesn't know you or you are Japanese, he'll pretty be like '>C Don't touch me, I'm royalty.'
[Fighting] He can't fight. At all. He'll flail and call for help, but that's the most he can do.
[Other Facts] He's an artist and architect. Oh, and he's a prince. That's important too.
