I'm not a pro, but from what I know of the World Wars, soldiers did not drink water. I think they drank wine, cause water was just too dirty and full of illnesses to be drinkable.

Ok, ignore me, I'm not too sure. I'm sure this applies to WWI, but I actually don't know if it's the same for WWII.
