Our family dog, Sarah (the barking white dog) has been sick for the last few months. We found out today that she isn't going to live much longer due to a sickness that causes her liver to shrink for the past half year. The vet didn't even suggest the idea of pills or surgery, instead offering the option to send her off in her sleep ( Read more... )

In the last few weeks of my dog's life my family had to make the same decision. Molly was my best friend; we grew up together, and she was the most loyal and caring dog in the world. Deciding to put her to sleep was difficult, but we felt that it was in her best interest. I'd like to think that somewhere up in doggy heaven, she thanks us for choosing to let her go peacefully and painlessly.

Good luck in your decision, though I'm sure your family will make the right one. Feel better and try to be unsad. Things will begin to look up soon :)

Even though it's saying the obvious, the shock of understanding the fact that when something's dead, you'll never see it again is a really hard thing to comprehend.

That's why I chose to enjoy the memories instead.
