Your observations bring attention to a lot of the sexism in the poem. The women shown in this section are either whores or boring prudes, both brainless. Eliot seems to be lamenting the lack of intelligent women in his society, but at the same time, his depiction of women and their practices only re-inforce the traditional chauvanistic stereotypes of women as either the madonna or the whore.

This section of the poem, particularly what you pointed out in your blog, reminds me of Swift's satirical poem, The Lady's Dressing Room. It seems that poets concentrated a lot on the beauty of women. This could also be seen as a metaphor for the construction of the poem. Eliot may have had to use some "strange synthetic perfumes" to polish his poem. I like your analysis because it points out a lot about a preoccupation that I believe is underdeveloped in some anaylses of Eliot. That preoccupation being women.
