Her fourth year at Hogwarts closed with a bang. A much louder gang than her trunk gave off when she lifted the lid and let it flop back down, but not as loud as might be heard when two trains collide. More like like the not so quite unfriendly thunder outside her window just now as she was packing.
Luna hummed tunelessly to herself as she went. Later this summer, she would go to Sweden with her father to look for crumple-horned snorkacks. He couldn't get away from work right now, and so he was letting her go off to summer camp in the States. On an island called Fandom, he assured her, there would be many new and interesting things in which she could take part.
She surveyed her trunk. The bespelt books her father had shrunk earlier were stuffed in and around robes of several colors, crafting products, a few pairs of shoes and many unique pieces of jewelry. Her radish earrings were in there somewhere, she was sure, as well as her cork and grass-knot necklace, her gum-wrapper and coral bracelet to ward off bad luck, and her
billywig broach. (Not to mention the little bags from Honeydukes filled with things like Ice Mice, Peppermint Toads, and Jelly Slugs.)
After haphazardly stuffing a few more robes, books, socks and glue into the trunk before delightedly letting the lid fall down like thunder, Luna decided she was ready. She tucked her wand behind her ear, pulled her trunk off her bed and clattered down the stairs. Her father would be home soon to take her to a new summer castle home.
