my goth heart broke during corpse bride. i thought it was relatively terrible. the pacing was bad and the songs were flaccid and ultimately unmemorable. i think an interesting aspect, too, was the repressive anglican/victorian culture & grey palette of the "living world" vs. the unhinged creole/latin american colorful yet "debauched" look of the living, so there's that--but overall, i think only for production design does it deserve anything. i was MAD that it was sucky.

I didn't find it sucky at all, though I wouldn't pick it a winner in this category.

I didn't really remember the songs, but then, I didn't after the first time I saw nightmare before christmas ...

see, Team Howey and i have totally sung all of Nightmare, in order, w/voices, on a couple of occasions. WITHOUT the tv being on. i have a lot of Burton soundtracks. i was unmoved by Corpse's music, so much so that i was actually ANGRY afterwards.
