It’s been a while since the wall went up. No one is quite sure exactly when it got there, but we do have some idea.
It began about a year ago, as we think. They started cutting themselves off from us, little by little by little, until they were really only rulers of Narnia in spirit. We hardly saw them, and when we did, it was only for really important meetings or issues.
It wasn’t so bad at first. It was really Edmund who was gone the most at the beginning. He would go off on his own little adventures, sometimes dragging her along with him. But soon, Susan also started leaving us behind, as if we weren’t really anything to her.
I tried to break them out of it. I knew that we had to stick together in order to keep Narnia intact. But Edmund insisted that they were in love, so they couldn’t help it. So, I had to be fair and let them go.
Lucy tried next. She talked to Susan and tried to convince her to stay around more often. It did no good. According to Lucy, Susan said that they didn’t feel as important around here, and needed to be somewhere where they could just be themselves.
And so the wall stayed up. Edmund and Susan now are hardly part of the royalty of Narnia, let alone being a part of our family.
